refers to the closest to the outside of the body; farthest from the midline
Intermediate
refers to between two parts
Proximal
refers to the body part closest to attach of the body
Distal
refers to the body part farthest from the attach of the body
Superficial
on top of body parts; top layers
Deep
under body parts; bottom layers
